Hazel Crest Community UMC is part of the global United Methodist Church. While we share a theological heritage with other Christian denominations, we hold to distinctive Wesleyan emphases—especially the centrality of God’s grace, a commitment to both personal and social holiness, and a call to serve others.
We are part of the South Chicago District in the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church.
God’s grace is a free gift, offered to everyone. God is at work in our lives before we even realize it—creating, calling, and loving us into relationship. Through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we see God's self-sacrificing love fully revealed.
We believe in a God who forgives, heals, and invites us to grow continually in love—for God, for others, and for all of creation.
Scripture is our foundation, but we also honor the influence of tradition, personal and shared experience, and thoughtful reflection. These four sources help us understand what it means to follow Christ in our time and context.
Faith is a journey we take together, always listening for who God is calling us to become.
Our actions matter. We’re called to love all people, not just those within our walls. That means working for justice, showing mercy, and caring especially for those on the margins of society.
We seek to live in ways that reflect God's love and bring about the common good.
Our mission is to worship God, make and nurture disciples of Jesus Christ, and encourage every person to live faithfully.
We are companions on the journey, learning, growing, and serving together.
